William Edward McClellan Sr.

William Edward McClellan, Sr., 87, of Matthews, passed from this life on September 9, 2015, and is now in the care and capable hands of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He is survived by his wife, Melba H. McClellan, to whom he was a loving and devoted husband for 58 years; son, W.E. McClellan, Jr. of Charlotte; brother, Robert B. McClellan and wife, Sue, of Williamsburg, VA; grandchildren, Cole Fredricks and wife, Jessica, of Winter Haven, FL; Wesley Fredricks of Melrose, FL and Kim Phillips and husband, Larry of Jacksonville, FL; 3 great grandsons and 1 great granddaughter. Bill was preceded in death by his parents John Beattie McClellan, Sr. and Lucile Moody McClellan, brother John B. McClellan, Jr., sister, Carolyn M. Carnathan, and daughter, Deborah M. Bentley. Bill was born id Athens, AL. Upon graduating high school, he entered the U. S. Army, serving in Japan after WWII. Following service, he returned home and attended the University of Alabama. Upon graduation, he entered the U.S. Air Force serving stateside. He retired from Kraft Foods following a 39 year career. He was a good and faithful servant of Jesus Christ and a member of Gold Hill Road church of Christ. *In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to your home church or the charity of choice. -
