Tommy Hugh Crowell

March 13, 1937 — May 1, 2010

Tommy Hugh Crowell Mr. Crowell, 73, of Matthews, went home to be with his Lord Saturday, May 1, 2010. Tommy was born March 13, 1937, in Union County and was the son of the late Burdette and Wilma Crowell. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Joe and Roland Crowell. Following 22 years of service, Tommy retired from the Mecklenburg County Police. He will also be remembered as a Realtor in Union/Mecklenburg Counties, and was a member of Matthews Lodge #461, F&AM. He loved going to the beach condo with his wife of 55 years, Patsy, fishing with his son and friends at the Outer Banks, and playing cards, chess, and golf with family and friends. Most importantly, Tommy loved the Lord and studied the Bible faithfully. He truly loved his church, First Baptist of Matthews, and had been a member there for 50 years. In addition to his wife, Patsy, Tommy's immediate family includes his son, Tommy Kim Crowell; his daughters, Mitzi Wiggins and her husband, Jim, Angela Harris and her husband, Tommy; his grandchildren that he adored, Natalie Wiggins, Matthew Furr, Brittany Deluca(husband Mark), Holly Wiggins, Emily Wiggins, Thomas Harris, Morgan Harris; great grandson, Dylan Deluca; five sisters, Jeanne Russell, Joyce Derrick, Eloise Ellis, Lucille Clontz, and Cleo Horne. The family will gather beginning at 3:00 PM, Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at First Baptist Church of Matthews, 185 S. Trade St. Matthews, NC 28105, to greet their many friends. A celebration of Tommy's life will immediately follow in the Sanctuary at 4:30PM. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers that donations be made to First Baptist Church of Matthews Fellowship Hall.
