Tom J. "Jet" Harvin

March 18, 1945 — August 16, 2010

Reverend Thomas Jefferson Harvin, 65, of Charlotte, saw the Face of Jesus following a short illness August 16, 2010, while in Presbyterian Hospital. Tom Harvin ("Jet" to close family members), was born in New York, New York, March 18, 1945, the son of the late James Israel Harvin and Evelyn Doughty Harvin. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Martha Horsford and Bernice Allen and two brothers, Milton Harvin and James Harvin. Following high school, service to his country in the U.S. Army, and college, he became an interior store planner in New York. After moving to Charlotte, he continued his career with Belk Store Services. Tom loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, with all his heart. In addition to serving as a Christian Life Advisor at Central Church of God where he was a member, he also served as a chaplain with Return Ministries which is also based in Charlotte. His immediate family includes his wife, Geri, of the home; his sons, Marlon Harvin, and his wife, Teesha, of Portsmouth, VA, Derrick Harvin, and his wife, Nekia, of Orlando, FL, Israel Harvin, of the home, and Jeffrey Patton, and his wife, Luz, of East Berlin, PA; his granddaughters, Teavian Harvin, Deavian Harvin, and Autumn Harvin; his grandson, Boone Patton, and step grandson, Tyrell Hite; his daughter-in-law, Raquiyah Harvin; his sister, Evelyn "Lena" Harvin, of Manning SC; and his brother, Dennis Harvin, and his wife, Delores, of New York City. The family would like to thank both the staffs of Central Church of God, First Baptist Church of Matthews, and the doctors and nurses of Presbyterian Hospital for their excellent care, comfort and kindness.
