Thomas Eugene Dey

Thomas Eugene Dey (Tom) 84 of Waxhaw, N.C., passed away surrounded by his family and friends after a courageous fight with cancer on April 30, 2013. He was born in Baltimore, Md., on October 6, 1928 to Melvin Dey and Mary McGinnity. Tom retired as a senior executive with the Chrysler Corporation in (1992). He honorably served in the military from (1950-54). His faith and successful career enabled him to thoroughly enjoy his retirement years with family and friends. Tom was a tireless volunteer, loved to play tennis, work in the yard, country music, walk his dog and host family gatherings on Sundays. He was a passionate sports fan who never missed a Carolina Panthers game. The joy of his life was his surviving wife Mary Ann Dey, to whom he was married to for 50 years. He is also survived by his children, Thomas (Cathie), Mary, Robert (Lynn), Michael (Angie), Stephen (Jessica) and Kathleen (Parks). Tom was blessed with 13 grandchildren. His late son Jimmy (56) predeceased him on April 18, 2013. Tom was the ultimate family man and loving husband.
