Shirley Marie Barrett

Shirley Marie Walden Barrett, 77, of Charlotte, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, October 9, 2018, at home. Shirley's career was in the medical field for many years. She completed her education in Low Lands in Abingdon, Virginia. She cared for many elderly folks, who she considered them all as friends. She moved from Abingdon in 1971, to start a new life and career with her husband Thomas Mack Barrett and her six children in Charlotte. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Alice Walden, her husband, Thomas Mack Barrett, and brothers, Mike, Tommy, and Robert Walden. Her immediate family includes her children, Connie Power (Clark) of Abingdon, VA, Roy Lee "Buck" Griffith, Jr. of Bristol, VA, James Barrett (Sandra) of Midland, NC, Wayne Barrett of Midland, NC, Allen Barrett of Charlotte, NC, and Clay Barrett (Misty) of Marshville, NC; her brother, Henry Walden of Saltville, VA; her two sisters, Betty Jo Blevins of Meadowview, VA and Peggy Walden of Brombly Gap, VA;13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 1 great great granddaughter; several nieces and nephews. -
