Like his father, beloved varsity football coach, John Cook (who served as head coach from 1959-1986), Sam was the epitome of sportsmanship, character, and the pursuit of excellence. He was a four-sport athlete as a student and name male athlete of the year as a senior. Sam and his father were the very first inductees to the Charlotte Country day School Athletic Hall of Honor in 1999.” – taken from the Charlotte Country Day School website: http://www.charlottecountryday.org/news/detail
