Marjorie Sue McGuire Sims passed away Tuesday morning, December 11, 2012 at her residence due to natural causes. She was born in Tarrant County Texas on July 10, 1928 to the late George R. & Etherel McGuire, however she grew up in Freeport, Texas where she graduate from Freeport High School. She is predeceased by three brothers - George McGuire Jr., John G. McGuire, Jim McGuire, and two sisters Ethrelene McGuire Reid and Rebecca Ann McGuire Romero. She was a homemaker, seamstress and mother. She is survived by her husband of 64 years Robert Wiley Sims and her daughter Robin Sims Kerr with husband Rev. Rodney S. Kerr. She is also survived by her two grandchildren, Rev. Kristopher Ross Kerr and wife, Casey Carpenter Kerr; Blair Kerr Owens and husband, Andy Owens. She is also survived by four beautiful great grand-daughters; Bryce Kathlene Owens, Bailey Grace Owens, Skylar McKenzie Kerr and Eva B. Kerr. A memorial service for Mrs. Sims will be held Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 2:00p.m. at First Baptist Church of Salisbury, NC. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rowan Helping Ministries, 226 Long Street, Salisbury, NC 28144. -
