Jack Vickrey, Jr.

Jack Vickrey, of Matthews, passed away following a courageous battle with cancer Tuesday morning, October 19, 2010. The loving, conscientious, care he received at home by his devoted wife, Nikki, during this difficult time was immeasurable. Jack was raised in Texas and was a graduate of Saul Ross State College in Alpine, TX. Following college, he entered the U.S. Navy and proudly served as an officer during the Vietnam Era. Upon returning to civilian life, Jack, in pursuit of higher education, entered Georgia State University and completed post-graduate studies there by earning an MBA. He fulfilled a 30+ year career in finance when he retired from Wachovia Bank as Senior Credit Officer in 2005. Jack loved to eat, shop, travel- especially to their home in Murrells Inlet. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and proud "Paw Paw. Jack's immediate family includes his wife, Nikki; three children, Jack Vickrey, III, Taylor Vickrey and his wife, Becca, and Elizabeth Vickrey Thomas and her husband, Steve; his mother, Anita Vickrey; two sisters, Nancy Banks and her husband, Dan, and Lori Vickrey; his grandchildren, Taylor Leigh Vickrey, Edwin English Vickrey, Anna Vickrey, Lowery and Polly Thomas, and Marshall Thomas; his cousin, Ivan Rider.
