Ivy Crosland Wohlford

Ivy Wohlford, 91, died June 28 at Plantation Estates in Matthews, NC. She was predeceased by her parents, Adelia and James Crosland and her sister, "Dedie" Crosland. She was also predeceased by her high school sweetheart and loving husband, Edgar Adolf Wohlford (Dolf). A native Charlottean, Ivy graduated from Central High School in 1941, and many of her classmates remained lifelong friends. She also graduated from Kings Business School. One of her favorite jobs as a secretary was with a local munitions plant supporting the war effort. After World War II ended, Ivy married Dolf, and they had 59 wonderful years together. When Dolf retired, they enjoyed traveling together and especially enjoyed family time with their children and grandchildren at their cabin on Lake Wylie. Ivy loved sports, both as a spectator and as a participant. She played Queen City Tennis and loved playing bridge and watching her favorite team, the UNC Tar Heels. She always treasured family vacations at the beach. Ivy was a friendly, kind person with an infectious smile who loved to be with people. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school when her daughters were young and was a faithful and longtime member of Providence United Methodist Church. She will be remembered for her deep love and compassion for her family and friends. Ivy was not only best friends with both her daughters, but also a wonderful role model. She will be especially remembered for the many years that she devotedly took care of her mother and special needs sister. Ivy is survived by her daughters, Allison Cordell (husband Tom) and Carol Caudill (husband Gentry). She was a loving grandmother to Brandon Cordell (wife Theresa) of Atlanta, GA; Bryan Cordell of Charleston, SC; and Britt Caudill of Charlotte. Her great grandchildren are Isabella Cordell and Cecilia Cordell of Atlanta. The family would like to thank the staff at Plantation Estates for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. -
