Harry Minton Harris Sr.

July 5, 1919 — June 24, 2012

Harry Minton (Buddy) Harris Sr., 92, of Charlotte, passed away on June 24, 2012. He was a committed father, friend, and former co-owner of Embree Reed, Inc. Buddy was born in Charlotte on July 05, 1919, to Millard and Nellie Harris. He had four sisters, Peggy, Dot, Alice and Betty; of whom preceded him in death. He joined the Navy Seabees in 1943, and, upon returning from the war, married Edna Deese in 1948. He worked for Embree-Reed, Inc. where he and his partner, Jim Malcolm, eventually bought the company and completed mechanical contracting and plumbing work for several local hospitals and other Charlotte landmarks. He retired in 1998, but the company continues to thrive under his son, Buddy Harris Jr. and Steve Malcolm. Buddy joined the Oasis Shrine Patrol in 1959 and traveled all over the east coast raising money for the Shriners Hospital. He is survived by wife Edna, son Buddy Harris Jr. and daughter-in-law Gay, daughter Cathy Harris Johnston, grandchildren Buddy Harris III (Abigail), Cameron Harris Allen (Woody), Trent Johnston (Casey) and Travis Johnston (April), great grandchildren Woody III and Gaylen Allen, Pearl and Liberty Harris, and Noah Johnston. The family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses at Presbyterian Hospital in Matthews for all their care and support during this time. **In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Shriners Hospital for Children, c/o Oasis Shrine Center, 604 Doug Mayes Pl., Charlotte NC, 28262. -
