Gladys E. Ortiz

Gladys E. Ortiz, age 79 of Charlotte, NC died on Thursday, August 26, 2021, at McWorther House in NC. Born in Caguas Puerto Rico on October 6, 1941, she was the daughter to the late Juan Marcano and Maria (nee Colon). Gladys came to the United States at a young age. She was married to the late Luis E. Ortiz for 45years, and they lived most of their lives in Salem, NJ. Gladys enjoyed family gatherings, good food, music, and spending time with friends. She was a stay-at-home Mom for many years, but she also enjoyed working as a Daycare and Head Start Program Provider. She was a dedicated member of the Salem Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and was baptized in 1963. Gladys is survived by her children, David Luis, Eugene, Thomas (April), Bidalina Vegas (Ricardo), Brunilda Cardoso (Jack) and Diana L. Mitchell (Phillip). She was predeceased by a son Ivan. She had 12 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Also, five brothers, Leo (deceased), Isaac, Norman, Antonio, and Hector and four sisters, Elena, Esther, Eve, and Nidia. A host of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Services for Gladys will be held virtually on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at 2:00pm.
