Donald James Fumo, age 51, of Matthews passed away Sunday, June 6, 2010, from injuries sustained as result of a motorcycle accident. He is preceded in death by his father, Raymond. Donald was born October 18, 1958, in Trenton, New Jersey. Following graduation from Steinert High School, he entered the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where he earned a B.S. degree. Donald, a 19 year veteran teacher in the CMS School System, had a passion for mathematics and his students. He was presently an Honors Math teacher at East Meck High School. Donald was a loving son, brother, husband, and father and was truly devoted to his entire family. He enjoyed camping and traveling with his family. He also enjoyed working with his hands and could fix just about anything. He was a long time music lover and possessed a unique sense of humor. Donald’s immediate family includes his wife Donna; two sons, Vincent and Matthew; one daughter, Katie.; his mother, Dorothy; sisters Carol Everett and husband, William, Joan Balerna and husband, Dave, Kathy Grant; brother, Raymond Fumo Jr. and wife, Maureen; numerous nieces, nephews, and loving in-laws.
