Craven Lee Austin

Craven Lee Austin, 83, of Indian Trail, NC went to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, March 5, 2019.
Craven was born on January 24, 1936. He retired from North Carolina Air National Guard where he was Master Sergeant for 42 years working in the motor pool. Craven was a great family man and a loving father. He married the love of his life, Carolyn, August 10, 1958 and the couple had two children together.

Craven was a social, active man who was deeply involved in his community and Hopewell Baptist Church where he served most recently as an usher. Craven enjoyed getting to know people as he never met a stranger. His family and friends will always remember him as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many.

Craven is survived by his wife, Carolyn of sixty years, his daughter, Melanie Somers(Doug), his son, Brian Austin(Anna), brother, Ira Dexter Austin(Marie), three grandchildren, Hillary Somers Evans (Leighton), Makalya Somers Kiker (Kemp), and Zachary Austin (Abbey). He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee and Verla Crowell Austin.

A visitation is scheduled for Thursday, March 7, 2019 from 6pm-8pm at Hopewell Baptist Church,
420 Hopewell Church Rd Monroe, NC 28110.

A Funeral service will be officiated by Dr. Lee Pigg and Pastor Brian Austin on Friday, March 8, 2019 at 2pm at Hopewell Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hopewell Baptist Church Building Fund.
