Carol Kearney Lane, 68, surrounded by her family, went home to be with the Lord May 3, 2017. She was born November 24, 1948, at Rex Hospital in Raleigh, NC. Carole was the daughter of the late Edward Crawford Kearney and Mary Bowers Kearney. She was preceded in death by her first husband, John White, and a sister, Daphne Kearney. Carole had a forty year work career which included many interesting jobs. She had worked as a legal secretary, a sales assistant at E.F. Hutton and she had also authored a culinary column for the Charlotte Observer. Carole had just retired in April 2017, from the Charlotte Fire Department Credit Union. According to her co-workers there or work-daughters as she lovingly referred to them as (Lisa, AnnMarie,Linda,Teresa,Jackie,Gayle,Debbie,Robin,Kim and work son Bryan) she was a much loved and much relied upon member of the team and she will be terribly missed . Carole loved the fine arts-music and theater. She played the piano, guitar, and loved dancing. She was a strong Christian, crediting God for helping her through many trials in life. She was a member of Central Church of God in Charlotte, NC, where she was a hospitality volunteer. Carole is survived by her husband Craig Lane; sons, Edward White of Mooresville, NC, and Jason White (Melissa Winecoff) their daughters, Star and Michelle and grandson Michael, all of Monroe, NC; her brother, Dennis Kearney and wife, Anita, of Patrick, SC; and sisters, Linda Powell, of Peachland, NC, Pat Baker and husband, Marion, also of Peachland, NC, and Marie Cooper and husband, Tim, of Waxhaw, NC; nieces, Gaye Baker, Briana Moser and Elizabeth Ingold; nephews, Mark, Barry, and Neil Powell, Robert and Brandon Baker, Matthew Kearney, and Zachary Cooper. Carole was truly loved by all who came in contact with her. She always took the time to talk to people and showed a genuine love and concern for others. As a testament to that special quality, she made many friends including a group she called her "forever friends", Anita, Glenda, and JoAnn...a friendship that lasted for over forty years.
