Billy Edward Mauldin Sr.

February 21, 1938 — August 25, 2010

Billy Edward (Bill) Mauldin, Sr., 72, of Charlotte, passed peacefully at home on August 25, 2010. Having graduated from Concord High, Appalachian State Teachers College and Duke University, Bill was a teacher, mentor and principal with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools for over 32 years. Bill's family was the most important thing in his life. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Beverly Toms Mauldin; their son Billy E. Mauldin, Jr. and wife Julie; and their daughter Allyson Mauldin Davis and husband Rob; and grandchildren, Thor, Titan, Roxy and Daisy Mauldin, and Dylan, Aydin, and Ryann Davis. In addition, Bill is survived by his sisters, Gail M. Rushing, Letha G. Mauldin, and Doris M. Townsend, and his brother, Bob M. Mauldin and their respective families. Bill was preceded in death by his parents Rance and Gladys Mauldin. Bill loved flowers. The family asks that flowers be sent directly to Oakwood Cemetery and delivered only between 8:30 - 9:30 AM, Saturday morning, August 28th, prior to the scheduled graveside service. The family wants to express profound thanks to the doctors, nurses and technicians who cared for Bill during his illness, and to all his many friends and family members, and to the staff at Central Church of God for their prayers and support.
