Life Story for James "Jim" Owen

James "Jim" Owen
James (Jim) Carl Owen, 79, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away at home Sunday, June 16, 2018.

He was born July 15, 1938, in Hogback (birth certificate), North Carolina to Paul Emmett Owen and Bonnie Mae Reid, both deceased. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Brenda C. Owen. He is survived by his daughter, Debbie Hensley and husband, David, of Marshall, NC and Daryn Owen and wife, Sueann, of Charlotte, NC. James had 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Also surviving, but just barely, are several well-used, much studied Bibles.

Jim, commonly called Hoover, was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Artillery Battalion followed by service in the Army Reserve. He worked construction most of his life but his calling, and passion, was studying, preaching and teaching the gospel. A very smart man with a simple, life-changing message, “He that believes in the Son has everlasting life,” Amen.

A celebration in his honor will be held:
June 30th, 2018
11:30 am – 1:30 pm
Toxaway Community Center
81 Slick Fisher Road
Lake Toxaway, NC 28747.

As he would say, “Wherever two Baptists are gathered there will be food!”
You are encouraged, but not obliged, to bring something to set on the table.
