Life Story for Luther Roddey Jr.

Luther  Roddey Jr.
Luther David Roddey, Jr., 76, of Charlotte went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, May 19, 2018, at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center. He was surrounded by his wife, sister, children and grandchildren.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 25, 2018, at Starmount Presbyterian Church, 1501 Starbrook Drive, Charlotte, NC

Dave was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, July 30, 1941, son of the late Vivian Elisabeth Heath Roddey and Luther “Luke” David Roddey, Sr.

Dave was an avid golfer and enjoyed water and boating while living on Seabrook Island in Charleston, South Carolina.

Dave served in the United States Air Force as a meteorologist in the early 1960’s. Dave had an entrepreneurial spirit and loved a challenge. After serving in the Air Force as a meteorologist, Dave began his career in the business world.

He initially worked with his father before founding D & O Associates, a manufactures’ representative firm. Dave went on to found Cable Ad Connection and worked with cable companies across the Southeast to develop their local advertising potential. Dave retired as President of Cable Ad Connection in 2011.

Dave was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Jean Roddey of Charlotte, North Carolina, sister, Lillian McDaniel of Charlotte, North Carolina, son’s, Phil Roddey and his wife, Paula Roddey, of Johns Island, South Carolina, Michael Roddey and his wife, Meredith Roddey, of Traveler’s Rest, South Carolina, Bryan Bell of Maui ; daughter Beth Rouse and her husband, Chad Rouse, of Charlotte, North Carolina; step-son Chuck Bell and his wife, Mary Bell, of Ewa Beach,Hawaii; twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Mr. Roddey’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center.
