Life Story for
Elfreida Wilson Caldwell, 83, of Charlotte, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on May 11, 1934, to her late parents Banks and Nora Wilson of Indian Land, SC.
She is predeceased by her husband Morris Caldwell and son Jeff Caldwell.
Freida was the youngest of four children. In 2009 Freida lost all her siblings within 28 days due to illnesses; her brother, L.B. Wilson, and two sisters, Brennie Alexander and Betty Aubrey.
Freida was involved in her church for 63 years, cooking meals for all occasions to making prayer shawls and baby hats. She was awarded an honorary lifetime membership in the Presbyterian Women’s Organization at Sharon Presbyterian Church.
In her community she enjoyed being chief judge for her local precinct and was a member of The Daughters of the American Revolution. She had an enormous love for children and thanks to the help of social services she was able to help with over 50 babies as a thanks for the 2 children she had received.
Freida was also an avid Panthers and sports fan in general. In her career days she worked at the Federal Reserve and Bank of America, retiring in 1997 to become “Maw.”
Her immediate family includes her daughter, Carol Caldwell Jamison and husband, Gary; her beloved granddaughter, Morgan Jamison, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
She will lay in state beginning at 1:00PM Friday, December 15, 2017, at Sharon Presbyterian Church, 5201 Sharon Rd, Charlotte, NC 28210. Her funeral service will begin at 2:00PM, followed by burial and reception.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Sharon Presbyterian Church cemetery fund or Sharon Presbyterian Preschool (same address).
